Introduction

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), is a technology that allows you to make telephone calls using a broadband Internet connection instead of a regular (or analog) phone line.

Skype in the Classroom: Using Skype in teaching and Learning

Join the Grade 11 ITGS class for a Skypecast and discuss the use of VOIP in education and in the classroom. This will be a chance to look at issues to do with emerging technologies and multimedia and to broaden the group's experience with this technology.

VOIP Group Project

In your designated groups you are to investigate, research and discuss issues and trends to do with VOIP in terms of personal and public communications. You are to then contribute to the appropriate topic wiki page. Please read the Wiki Assessment Rubric for this project. Also, try to include recent news items and current material to support your discussion and opinions. Be creative with this assignment. Is there someone you could interview (podcast)? What other methods can you use to convey your message apart from text?
